Please tell us about yourself. Your age, hobbies, passions and what you did (professionally) before joining the bootcamp.
My name is Delvina, and I am 26 years old. My hobbies include computer gaming, writing and electronics. I enjoy programming and math, which are both related to me when it comes down to problem solving. Prior to the bootcamp I was working on a project that required crawling different websites using Java.
Why did you choose to enroll in a bootcamp for coding?
Bootcamp was born out of curiosity. I had never had the chance to focus solely on coding in college. Based on other students’ success stories, a bootcamp is a great way to learn coding. Bootcamp is a way to learn from others with the same interests.
What were your fears and doubts that prevented you from enrolling? How did you overcome them?
Although I didn’t have any fears, it was something I was not expecting.
What was the secret to Coding Dojo’s success? Why did you choose Coding Dojo over other programs?
The Innovation Centre Kosovo scholarship was the main reason I chose Coding Dojo over the other programs. Also, the way it was described on social media. The website was a great way to get a first impression of the bootcamp.
How was it to prepare for bootcamp? How did you prepare for the bootcamp?
Although I knew a little bit about coding, I learned a lot by using Javascript to create loops and arrays.
Talk us through the first few weeks of the program. Which parts were your favorites? What parts were difficult?
The first few weeks were a bit of an introduction. I enjoyed the detailed explanations from my instructors, the structure of lectures and assignments, and, of course, the fact that there was always the Mattermost chat platform where you could get help if you need it.
What were your strategies for overcoming the difficulties you faced?
I would repeat the video several times until I understood the lecture. If I had problems with assignments, I could ask my colleagues if they had the same problem. Then we’d discuss the problem and then solve it together. I was able to ask questions in Mattermost, but there were not many obstacles as lectures and assignments were very informative.
Do you have any funny stories to share about bootcamp? Make friends! Do you have fond memories?
Coding Dojo bootcamp is something I will always remember. It was an unforgettable experience that made me feel confident in my ability to tackle other programming challenges. I made many good friends.
How did you feel about your job prospects and skills as you neared graduation?
I felt like I was part of something. I realized that I had a strong connection with programming and that it was important to learn from the people who do it. I am confident that I can learn new skills and work in other programming fields.
How did your job hunt go? How did you land a job at your current job?
It was a good experience. I was offered a job with RPA, a German company that has a branch in Kosovo. Now I am looking for a new job.
What advice would you give to others interested in coding bootcamps, or just starting one?
My advice is to “Just apply…because you are worth it.” Choose Coding Dojo.
Did the bootcamp provide you with anything other than coding skills?
The Coding Dojo bootcamp offers a lot more than just coding skills. I feel more motivated, have more confidence, and I learned to communicate and collaborate more.
What are your future goals and dreams, in five or ten years?
I want to keep programming. I want to be part of an AI-focused company or team that allows me to continue learning and contribute to the creation and enhancement of technological products and services. I also value the work of the team I am working with and how they appreciate my contribution. Coding Dojo bootcamp is for you if you are interested in learning to code and making your career a joy.
